Yapak

This is the most sought after dive site in the entire Boracay Island and it being a five star dive location has a lot to do with it. Yapak is one of the four five star dive destinations under the same name. Yapak is actually a wall dive divided into four different dives, which however cannot be all made at once because the distances from Yapak 1 to Yapak 2 and so on is pretty far. This dive spot is located in the north western tip of the Boracay Island right beside the Punta Bunga dive site. You can reach this dive site with a 15 minute motorboat ride from the shores of boat station 1 and 2.

Yapak is one of the only dive destinations in the Philippines besides Puerto Galera, where you will see sharks, manta rays and green sea turtles at the same time. There are plenty of white tip sharks and reef sharks that you can find swimming around or hiding in crevices or caves. This dive site has plenty of caves and crevices which makes a dive to Yapak an exciting underwater adventure. You will also find plenty of tuna, groupers, trevallies, and basses.

The Yapak dive site is ideal for experienced divers and a minimum certification of advanced open water is necessary. This dive site is also one of the only dive sites in the Philippines where you can do tech diving with lots to see. The minimum depth is 30 meters and the maximum depth is 70 meters. Tech divers can go as low as 70 meters, but they still have to be careful upon entering the submarine caves. The water conditions are always unstable and mostly rough which requires a negative entry. A negative entry means that you do not have the luxury of waiting around on the surface, but you have to get down with as much negative buoyancy as possible or else you will be in danger of being swept away by the current and waves.

Yapak can be an exciting day trip and this would cost you around $50 to $70 including additional gear such as weights and tanks, dive guides and transportation. If you want to go tech diving, you have to pay a little extra, probably around $100 for a day trip of two to three Yapak dive sites. Whatever the costs are, the price is definitely worth is. Yapak is one of the best dive sites in the entire country and you will never forget this diving adventure in your life.
