Yapak Beach

Boracay Island has been one of the major tourist destinations in the Philippines. Thousands of tourists visit Boracay every year making it one of the most valuable tourist spots in the country. The white sands and sparkling blue green waters of Boracay has become an addicting element that attract tourists to keep coming back in Boracay at Aklan.

The White Beach is swarmed with several resorts and innumerable visiting tourists that give the beach an ambience of a crowded beach life teeming with activities all day and night. But there is one secluded area from Boracay Island that offers a more private and less crowded beach with a promising and exciting beach experience to offer.

This is the Yapak Beach which is also famously known as the Puka Shell Beach so called for its numerous puka seashells lying on the beach shore. It is the second largest beach in Boracay. Getting to Yapak Beach takes about 15 minutes drive from the White Beach. The main transportation to get there is through a tricycle ride which costs about 150 pesos for a single trip. It will be a rough road drive but the travel is worth the time, money and effort.

Yapak Beach is less crowded in contrast to the main White Beach with fewer people seen on the beach thereby giving a more romantic, peaceful and serene ambiance to enjoy the sight of the sparkling blue waters of Boracay bay.

You can find a number of restaurants at Yapak Beach. The Shore Grill is a favorite place to dine by visiting guests at Yapak Beach where one gets to enjoy fine dining on their nipa hut eatery with sumptuous fresh seafood to serve. One can also see a few vendors selling puka shell jewelry of different styles and beauty.

Yapak Beach also offers a magnificent view of the sunset. It gives a more tranquil and serene beach experience with captivating views of the blue still waters and Boracay sunset. At the end of the beach stretch is sloping white sand with rougher and deep waters than the White Beach which is also fun for swimming.

Yapak Beach is most favorable for picnics and is also a good place for snorkeling. The puka shells from the beach are of export quality and are mostly used for creating wonderful line of jewelry collections of necklaces and bracelets.

A visit to enjoy the beauty of Yapak beach has become a must see experience among tourists who prefer enjoying a beach vacation away from the bustling activities of the Boracay main White Beach.
