Snorkeling is a water activity that anyone can enjoy in sunny Boracay. One does not really need anything to be able to go snorkeling. All one has to do is rent a pair of flippers, a snorkeling mask and breather and one is all set. One simply has to swim and breathe through the breather. This is not as simple as it seems for some people do not know how to snorkel properly and this is why Boracay has many stalls that offer an introductory course on how to do the process properly. Some stalls may offer free courses but they are usually done in groups. One on one training can be held but there may be a small fee of $150 - 200.00 pesos per person. Some stall owners may charge a rental fee of $400.00 all inclusive of the intro training. The equipment type rented are for casual snorkelers and if one would like to do a more deeper types of snorkeling should bring their own gear or be prepared to pay a bit extra to rent more professional equipment.
Some swimmers may use a traditional life vest or life preserver vest that may rapidly expand and fill with air in case the snorkeler dives a bit to deep. One simply has to pull on two tabs on the front of the vest to make it inflate rapidly.
Snorkeling is very popular in Boracay for there are a lot of shallow reefs and coral formations that one can seek out upon their visit. Boracay has a lot of lagoons and shallow area around the island that allow snorkelers of all levels and ages to enjoy them without fear of being in danger. Most sites are supervised by instructors while some are open to the public and may entail adult supervision.
Many of the snorkeling areas often have food stalls located in the vicinity to reward snorkelers with a cold drink and a hot meal straight from the grill any time of the day. While snorkeling is normally a day activity, it is also an exciting thing to do in the evening. Here, the sea life of Boracay take on new light as different fishes come out and show off their wondrous colors. This is usually left for more experienced snorkelers and those below the age of eighteen are forbidden from doing so.
