From Manila to Boracay - Philippines

There are a couple of travel options when you want to travel from Manila to Boracay. You either travel by air or by sea. You should take note that there are no airports on the island of Boracay, frankly because it is quite small. The fastest way to get there, of course, would be to go by plane from Manila to Boracay. A plane ride will take you as far as Caticlan or Kalibo where the closest airports to Boracay are located. Both the flights from Manila to Kalibo and Caticlan will take around an hour and a half. You then ferry from Caticlan to the island of Boracay.

Take note that if you do take the flight going to Kalibo, you will have to go by land to get to Caticlan. This simply means that the easiest and cheapest way to travel from Manila to Boracay will be to take a direct flight to Caticlan. However, airlines will usually have their flights to either Caticlan or Kalibo fully booked for several weeks during the peak season. This means you have to find alternative routes when traveling from Manila to Boracay.

Alternatively, you may fly to Tabias in the province of Romblon, Roxas City on the eastern side of Panay Island, or Iloilo City on the southwest of Panay. These should only be alternative transportation options since they tend to be more expensive and take more of your time.

Now, if you're living by a shoestring budget and would like to find the cheapest mode of travel from Manila to Boracay, then your best option is to travel by boat from Manila. Shipping lines often land on the town of Dumaguit on the northern coast of Panay Island. From there you also travel by land to Caticlan then to Boracay. This trip may yet be your most scenic one since you get to see the Panay countryside.

The airfare for your trip from Manila to Boracay will be up to around P3,000 at the most. The bus ride from Kalibo to Caticlan and the boat ride from Caticlan to Boracay will have a total combined cost around P140. Remember that fare prices change depending if it's peak season or not. The boat ride from Caticlan to Boracay Island will last about half an hour.

The months of March to May are the best time of the year to travel to Boracay, which are the summer months in the Philippines. However, Boracay tends to be crowded in the said season. The off season starts in June and ends in September. These are your options when traveling from Manila to Boracay. Take note of the costs, travel times, and alternatives when you plan your trip.
