Crocodile Island
Boracay is not only the typical teeming party island that everybody thinks it is, but it also has one of the best marine species and diversity and this fact makes Boracay to one of the best dive destinations in the world. Today we will be presenting a rather special dive site in Boracay called the Crocodile Island. You can easily reach the Crocodile Island from the Boracay Whit Beach and it takes only about five to ten minutes with a boat to get there. Crocodile Island is an uninhabited island that looks like a crocodile and thus the name.
Crocodile Island offers a variety of marine life such as soft and hard corals, nudibranchs, and school of groupers, garden eels, clownfish, batfish, triggerfish, and plenty of snails. It may be your lucky day and you will see a couple of sea snakes, but do not get too close because sea snakes in Boracay are very poisonous. This dive site is a four star dive site which means it is worth your money and time to visit this site.
The Crocodile Island has slack tides and strong currents as well, which makes this place a perfect drift dive. The minimum depth is 5 meters and the maximum depth for this dive can reach up to 20 meters which would make this dive a good place for all levels of divers except with the strong currents which calls for intermediate to expert divers. The visibility is pretty good most of the times with 10 to 25 meters.
If you did not bring your entire scuba equipment, you can definitely rent extra equipments such as a Buoyancy Control Device, regulators, masks, weights, tanks, and even dive computers. Every PADI accredited dive shop or dive resort has a rental service available and certain packages that come with a dive already. You have to prepare around $25 per dive. This price includes the guide, the transportation and sometimes the additional rental gear, depending on the dive shop or dive resort. If you want to dive with Nitrox, you have to pay a little extra but it should not be above $10 extra for the Nitrox dive.
The Crocodile Island is also a great spot to discover if you are adventurous and daring enough to explore an uninhabited island during your surface intervals. Prepare yourself to meet a lot of wildlife on this island if you dare to explore, but the local dive guides will probably know one or more secrets about this island. A trip to Crocodile Island definitely has to be part of your Boracay itinerary.
