Location and How to Get There

The famed Boracay Butterfly Garden Cottages is one of the tourist spots nestled on the tranquil and less commercial Bulabog Beach of the island of Boracay that is often referred to by many local folks as Asias Number One (1) Kite Boarding Beach. (This particular sport is actually held around the area from the last few days of October of every year to early May.) Around the Boracay Butterfly Garden Cottages, you will find the White Beach and the DMall Shopping Centre (where a lot of interesting shops, supermarkets, bars, banks, and many more establishments abound).

Getting to the Butterfly Garden is actually filled with many choices: by land, sea, or air. If you would opt for air travel, better be aware that rates may vary on which airline you would be taking to get to this place. Air travel can be availed of from Manila or Cebu where you can choose to arrive at either Caticlan or Kalibo. Ship travel can be availed of from Manila. And a longer route, by land, will bring you from Cebu to other certain places such as Negros, Iloilo, and Caticlan. Certain arrangements by land or sea can be made in advance and there are ports of entry and timeframes or arrival and departure that you have to take note of.

What to See

There are many things to see and do when you get to the Butterfly Garden of Boracay. Certain activities such as mountain biking and hiking, motorbiking, banana-boat riding and wall climbing can bring you to different remote areas that you probably havent gone to yet. There are also many Internet Cafés around the area which are either complete with air conditioning for those who would like an enclosed and comforting area, or presented as a palm-leaf hut with the natural breeze blowing in to cool you. And who wouldnt want to experience the glorious crystal waters of the gurgling creeks, lakes, and waterfalls around? It is simply majestic to behold. Tennis courts, golf courses, and horse stables are also there for you to enjoy. And, of course, there are hundreds of various species of live Philippine butterflies to see in its netted enclosure. There is also a gift shop nearby specializing in native handicrafts. A restaurant is also just around the corner where you can stay and relax, and enjoy light snacks, and refreshing drinks.

The Butterfly Gardens History

The Boracay Butterfly Garden has been established in the year 2002 and started operations in April of 2005, a couple of years later. It is duly registered to breed butterflies and holds a Wildlife and Collectors permit for its operations from the DENR/PAWB.

Other Important Information

The Butterfly Garden of Boracay is usually open everyday from 8 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon. To get in, you may need to shell out around a hundred (100) Philippine pesos if you are a foreign adult, around fifty (50) pesos for local adult visitors, and twenty-five (25) pesos for children.
