Bel-At Beach in Boracay - Philippines
This Boracay dive site is perfect for those who do not dare to enter the raging tides and currents of the Yapak 1 and 2 dive sites, but who still like to catch a glimpse of crazy adventures. We are talking about the Bel-At Beach dive site which happens to be one of the more exciting dive sites in the Boracay Island.
The Bel-At Beach dive site is located right beside the Yapak 2 dive site which explains the rough conditions. It is a 20 minute boat ride away from the northern shore of Boracay Island, but it can also be reached from resorts and dive shops located in boat station one and boat station two, although the actual ride from there is going to be longer than 20 minutes. The Bel-At Beach dive site is a wall where you can descend and spot the marine life around you.
Once you are in the Bel-At Beach dive site, you constantly have to be on the lookout to make sure that you didnt miss a school of tuna fish rushing by here or a school of jacks flying by there and so on. You will be able to see sweetlips, surgeonfish, rainbow runners, Napoleon wrasse and batfish. Green Sea Turtles are also common sightings and the chill will be running down your spine once you spot the white-tip sharks and the grey reef sharks coming at you. There are also corals both soft and hard along the walls of the Bel-At Beach dive site.
This dive site is not recommended for open water divers and beginners. You need to be experienced enough to know how to handle rough situations, deep dives, drift dives and negative buoyancy entries. The maximum depth is around 50 meters and the minimum depth is 32 meters which makes the regular dive alone a deep dive already. You need to be mentally and physically prepared for this dive, because the currents are so strong that you could just get caught in one and drift away to dive sites other than Bel-At Beach.
Prepare around $25 to $35 for the entire trip and the additional equipment that you might require such as weights, tanks or a compass. The transportation is also included in the price and you will most probably be going with a boat because negative entries are almost impossible from the shore. Bring enough weights because the current might push you up.
The Bel-At Beach dive spot is a typical adventure dive, and if you do not yet have enough of those kinds of dives, then hop along to the nearby Yapak dive sites to get your adrenaline pumping.
